IUD's and toilet water

Some decisions are hard to make. You stress and agonize over them for days or even weeks. You write out a pros and cons list and listen to the opinions of anyone willing to give it.
Other decisions don’t take any time at all.
This morning I dropped my birth control pill into the toilet. Even though the bowl was clean from a rare burst of energy the night before - seeing that tiny, pinkish beige pill begin to dissolve before my eyes left me feeling like there has got to be more to life than toilet diving as a means of preventing pregnancy.
Today I have officially decided to switch to the IUD. Granted, my doctor said it was necessary and choosing to continue with the pill would be like choosing to leave gangrene toes to rot your whole foot away. I feel like this event has reaffirmed the advice.
Upon looking for a picture for this post I came across one woman’s play-by-play of the procedure - I think I can hack it. I’m pretty tough.
Any fellow IUD’ers out there? Aside from the horrific assault on your wallet - what should I expect?
